MIK Bakker’S
Cabris Collection
Mik Bakker is a young, talented furniture designer and sculptor based in Amsterdam. She grew up in a multicultural and artistic environment, with both a Dutch and Peruvian nationality. Her journey into the world of design and architecture began at the Design Academy in Eindhoven and ArtEZ, where she discovered her particular fascination for materials and shapes. She graduated from the Royal Art Academy in The Hague in 2022, specialising in Furniture Design.
Bold, functional statements in space define the work of Dutch Designer Mik Bakker. With a distinct spatial aesthetic, her furniture designs aim to shape and shift the perception of an interior.
KADER/Cabris Collection
In 2023, KADER DESIGN invited Mik Bakker to design a chair that would exemplify the KADER collection. The result: a stunning sculptural chair made from solid 200 year old wooden beams that once supported the roof of a now demolished factory in Amsterdam. In the words of KADER DESIGN’s Alexander Mercer: “A contemporary, modernist, upcycled design with an architectonic presence that is actually more like a sculpture, but feel free to use it as a chair…”
COMING SOON!
The KADER x Mik Bakker collaboration continues with an expansion of signature furniture pieces titled as the Cabris Collection. Why Cabris? Mik Bakker’s stroke of genius for the series hit while on a visit to the French commune Cabris, now the inspiration for the name.
