Besides being a designer Cees Braakman was head of PASTOE, a furniture factory with immeasurable influence on Dutch Design to this day. In the ’50s and ’60s especially there wasn’t a modern household to be found that did not have a piece of PASTOE furniture in it.

Braakman went to the USA in 1948 for an internship at the Herman Miller factory, renown for producing the Eames designs. This had a huge impact on him and when he returned to the Netherlands and took over PASTOE — up till then his father’s company — he decided to manufacture solely modern designs, of which most by his own hand.

The design of this side table was highly appraised when first produced and even received the ‘Goed Wonen’ quality mark.

This piece in particular has a restored wooden top with new birch wood veneer. The rest remains original. Please note that KADER design has another in stock, if perhaps you would like to form a pair.
