This “Composition on white background” is an abstract, oil on canvas painting by Dutch Modernist Henk Munnik (1917-1997). In a colourful palette of reds, blues, rusts and blacks on a neutral white background, he created an intriguing structure, somewhat resembling the early abstract paintings by Piet Mondrian. It captures the energy between shapes and spaces in a modern composition. This work is an great example of Munniks abstract paintings from the sixties,
Signed lower right, “H Munnik” and verso signed & titled “H. Munnik comp. op  witte achtergrond”.
